Comments:Your website is in my favorites! From the moment I stumbled on to your home page with the music and lyrics "I wanna go home," I got goosebumps. That particular feeling came flooding back (pun intended) to me. And I realized how lucky I am to be sitting here in my comfy robe, at my own desk, in my own home, remembering Wilma. Reading the Journal, put me right back in Cancun again, and I felt once again, the fear of the storm, and the frustration and worry for my husband, and my 20 month old son in the days that followed, as we tried to return home to Canada. I especially love Joe's SCRP page! Can't wait to show it to my husband :)

Comments:I just want to say that I really like your guest book. It's very interesting to read about everybody that I was on my honeymoon with too! My husband and I were in Sun Palace and were sheltered at Adventura Spa as well. We were hoping to have a really nice honeymoon just b/c of the fact that we are from New Orleans and we almost lost everything in Hurricane Katrina back home. So, instead of us getting a break from hurricanes and seeing the disaster areas constantly, we had to see it in Cancun as well! Things are okay for us right now, but we can't wait to go back to Cancun for the days that we had left for our honeymoon.

Comments:Hello My Family, We enjoy coming to the Cancun Palace in Cancun,But it seems as though trouble follows us. As you all are aware what happen to all of us last year, two years before there was that WTO meeting and the army was on the beach. The ship was in the ocean,it was a little tense to say a least. And then the big one two years before that,we were to leave on thursday as we always do,but on Tuesday September 11 the planes and all airports where shut down because of the terrorist in New York. But we always seem to meet new and interesting people. We are members of the Palace resorts, so we will continue to try to enjoy ourselves when we go ,every two years. So plan your trips with us in mind.

Comments:My husband and I took shelter at aventura spa palace during our honeymoon stay. We bared the storm even with the heartache of knowing our honeymoon wasn't a dream come true. My husband was the real trooper who kept his hopes high even when he did not have a leg to stand on. Really his left ankle was broken a few weeks before our wedding. We have kept our love strong, and we continue to believe that if a broken ankle can't keep us down and we can get through a hurrican on our honeymoon that we are strong enough to get through anything. Thank you so much for this web site. It made me cry to remember the events but brought a smile to my face to think of the friends we made and their lasting bond.

Comments:I just finished reading your journal, I'm almost in tears, even though my husband and I were there at the same time in the same shelter, you almost block it out of your memory, but now I just relived the whole "not knowing" nightmare, I also kept a journal, not as elaborate as yours, and maybe that's why the memories were not so vivid. On a other note, we're going back in March for the 18-or 19th times, we've lost track, not because we have any kind of vacation or time share packages, but just because we love it, and 1 bad experience will not shadow 18 great ones.

Comments:My husband and I were in the Moon Palace shelter. We had been staying at the Beach Palace Hotel and had only had 1 days holiday before being shipped out on Thursday morning. After 6 days in the shelter our journey home took 2 days starting on the Tuesday morning. The whole experience was very surreal and throughout the whole episode I never once felt frightened. This Christmas we have given extra special thanks for what we have. Never far from our minds is the courage that the mexican people showed. We knew that when we got home we had homes ro come back to. The mexican staff who looked after us so well never complaining, didn't know if there families were ok let alone whether their home was still standing. Many people after hearing our experience say "I bet you will not go back there again" Our response is yes we will. We can't wait to get back to support the people who so bravely and selflessly looked after us.

Comments:We were in a shelter in downtown Cancun. My new husband and I (we were on our honeymoon) have been pretty much obsessed with finding and reading boards, and journals from the storm. While everyones stories sound completely different they are also earily the same. We have a blog page set up with our stories and pictures. Please feel free to look at it! Glad to see everyone home safe!

Comments:My family and sister's family (15 total) were guests at the Moon Palace when Wilma hit. We spent the next 7 days in the Convention Center on the 2nd Floor. Our children and grandchildren were fortunate to get out (through Apple Vacations) on Tuesday, but my husband and I and sister and brother-in-law were there until Thursday. The experience was life-changing to say the least. The employees of the resort were wonderful and we are very grateful for all they did to make this experience as comfortable as possible.

Comments:Great job on the website! We were also refugees staying at the Adventura Palace. It was a very scary and trying time for all. Unfortunately, we didn't get home until Saturday night and we also had to get transported down to the Moon Palace -- what a mess that was! We sat in a deserted and demolished McDonald's parking lot tow nights on a row waiting to get a boarding pass to go home! On Thursday night (really Friday morning from 2:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when we were taken back to the shelter to come back again Friday night, really Saturday morning at 2:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when we finally got a boarding pass and were taken to the airport in Cancun. We then got a flight to Charlotte and we then had to get another flight to Philadelphia! We finally made it home around midnight! (1 whole week later than anticipated!) I'm really glad to see the pictures posted since my camera was broken in the shelter and I have no pictures to show what we went through. Thanks again.

Comments:Thanks for setting up this wonderful site! We were lucky enough to get on the Canadian charter flight out on Tuesday night, after spending all day Monday on a bus trying to get to Merida (flooding was too bad to get through) we finally left on the last flight allowed out of Cancun on Tuesday at 5pm. It was great to go home

Comments:We were lucky enough to book with Apple Vacations. They got us out of there on Tuesday morning, just around the time the sewage system failed. It took all day and into the evening, but we finally reached Detroit around 9:30 pm or so. I've never been so glad to feel 40 degrees in my life. The first couple of days were pretty rough. I kept waking up in the middle of the night, thinking I was back in the shelter. I nearly killed myslf getting out of bed a couple of times, as I eexpected to be much closer to the ground. Thank god, things are back to normal, and I have a new appreciation for the mundane and everyday occurances in life. I'll never take a successful toilet flush for granted again! God bless America!

Comments:Hi everyone. We lucked out with Apple tours and got out on Tuesday evening. Heard some incredible stories from people on our flight who were at other shelters. We had it pretty good at Aventura compared to some others. Feels so good to be home and now these 35 - 50 mph wind gusts in 30 degree temperatures don't feel so bad! Linda E..got your letter thanks and so far no trouble with the check!! Ha ha! Great job on the website, Kim. Anybody hear what happened to the mopney raised for the workers at the hotel?

Comments:After seeing the devastation of Katrina, I truly feared for my friends Kim and Gloria when we found out they were put in a shelter to sit out the storm! Then the news would never tell us how you all were doing. Very frustrating here in the U.S., I can only imagine what you all went through. We had lots of people praying for all of you! So glad you made it out safely.

Comments:My husband and I left the shelter on Tuesday night with another couple and went to The Palladium Resort about ten miles down the road. The Us Embassy came there on Thursday and told us about the boarding passes. We loaded a van of about ten of us and went to the Delta place downtown Friday morning about 3am. We finally boarded a plane about 11:45am and we were off to Atlanta.

Comments:Your journal was very informative. I imagine that it must have been a very frightful period of time for you. My sister & brother-in-law were there with you, in the same convention hall, probably she may have used your laptop to get some e-mails out, as I received one from her during that time period. She mentioned that when the storm was overhead, it sounded like a rushing freight train. Scarry. Her name & his were Andrea, & Dave Bergeron, from PA. Did you meet them? Your pictures were very good also, it helps to show the before & after effects.

Comments:Welcome Home Toni Authors! I'm happy to have my friend back. It may be time for a carreer change. Maybe we should go into the toilet paper business. 2 Pesos for 4 squares?? I think we can make a profit. Ya think? When you asked if I wanted to go to Cancun this year, I knew there was a reason I didn't. I guess it wasn't time for me to have a life altering experience. But I somehow feel I did anyway just listening to your stories. We're all blessed to have you back! Next time, go to Disneyland!

Comments:Left Tuesday morning @ 3:00 a.m. on the 4:00 a.m. bus headed for Merida. The 4 hour bus ride turned out to be 8 1/2 hours. One flat tire, one bathroom stop, 2 Pesos for 4 squares of toilet paper. Arrived in Merida with hundreds of other desperate tourists. Very Chaotic, thought we would never get out. Fortunately I spotted the US Embassy representative and we were able to get out on a chartered State Department plane. All & All it was a very frightening experience, but very thankful that I was fortunate enough to meet the people I met and will always have a special bond with them! Just curious? Did the British ever come? ha Thanks so much for the website, wonderful job! Thanks Toni
